Waldorf accidentally leaks new Iridium synth – here’s what we know

1 min read

Waldorf’s Quantum synth looks set to be scaled down into a compact desktop form-factor, according to an apparent accidental leak on their website.

The product listing appeared on Google but was swiftly taken down after people noticed.

Attempts to retrieve cached versions of the page were unsuccessful suggesting it was only up for a brief period of time.

The Google description says: “Waldorf Iridium has made the impossible possible. The mighty synth engine from Quantum is now available in a compact form. Tracing the footsteps of its bigger …”

The Waldorf Quantum is an absolute powerhouse of a synth, now set for a younger sibling

According to the now-hidden site, the Iridium will feature the same engine as the Quantum, with three oscillators and five synthesis modes: wavetables, waveforms (virtual analogue), particle (sampling/granular sampling), resonator, and kernels (FM).

The synth will combine a touchscreen with dedicated knobs to control the main parameters. It cuts back on the built-in keyboard but the inclusion of pads suggests it is somewhat playable out-of-the-box.

Official pricing of the Waldorf Iridium was not revealed on the page but, it is safe to say it will be a fair bit cheaper than the roughly £3500 price tag of it’s bigger brother.
