VIDEO: Reaktor Core tutorial – first steps in Core

1 min read

Today we look at the very first steps for working in Reaktor Core, the deeper level programming environment in Reaktor 6.

Getting your feet wet in Reaktor Core is actually easier than you think.

This video guide shows you how to take the first steps so you feel more comfortable.

You will only be using only the skills you already have from Reaktor Primary.

Once you get used to the slightly newer interface, I recommend you start looking through the Core library to see what is already semi-built. This is so you can start using more of its features.

What is Reaktor Core?

The Core level in Reaktor is a graphical audio programming language that focuses on low-level building features, using a run-time optimising compiler. It can be used for custom DSP algorithms.

Like in Primary the Core level uses a “graphical signal flow paradigm”.

The Reaktor manual lists the main differences in Core:

• Core is using an integrated run-time compiler, allowing efficient processing of highly detailed low-level Structures.

• The low-level Structure building features of Core make it specifically suitable for implementing custom DSP algorithms.

• The details of the rules of signal processing in Core are different from Primary level and are tailored to the needs of the DSP algorithm design.

• Core is using a different set of basic Modules and a different Macro library.
