Turn Headphones Into Microphones

1 min read

This is a neat little trick for more uses than one. Speakers and microphones are essentially the same thing, microphones turn sound into electricity, speakers vice versa. In the same way that manually spinning a wind turbine will generate wind, we can use this concept to make microphones out of unlikely gear.

If you are a DJ and are asked to make an announcement, you have no mic but you do have a jack microphone input, simply plug your headphones in and talk in one of the ear pieces. Only one earpiece will work but that is of no consequence.

This also comes in handy if you want a bad sounding microphone for recording, not everyone wants a clean sound, and so this is a useful tool if you want a rough recording.
