{"id":299,"date":"2019-01-05T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2019-01-05T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/box5722.temp.domains\/~audioor1\/music-subreddits-to-subscribe-to\/"},"modified":"2019-01-05T00:29:24","modified_gmt":"2019-01-05T00:29:24","slug":"music-subreddits-to-subscribe-to","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/audioordeal.co.uk\/music-subreddits-to-subscribe-to\/","title":{"rendered":"The Best Music Subreddits to Subscribe to."},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>\u00ad<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here is a list of the best music-related subreddits to follow for producers, sound engineers, and DJs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p style=\"text-align:left\">Reddit is one of the biggest resources for information online. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It has communities called subreddits, dedicated to submitting content relevant to that style or type of information, as well as discussions and advice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have compiled a list of the relevant subreddits for DJing and music production, from which you will find a ton of resources. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, the search bars are your friends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you are unfamiliar with Reddit, then all you need to do is create an account and subscribe to the subreddits that you are interested in (try searching for &#8220;music production&#8221; and seeing what subs there are). <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To make things easier, however, I have also made a list here of useful subs to connect to immediately!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/DJs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/DJs<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>Is the main subreddit for DJs, it\ncovers a lot of hot topics and discussion as well as some more advanced\nquestions. This is a recommendation to all DJs however beginners should direct\ntheir questions to the next suggestion as the users have varying degrees of\nsupport at times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/beatmatch\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/beatmatch<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>This is the more beginner\nfriendly version of \/r\/DJs and will welcome most beginner questions as well as\nsuccess stories and advice. You are more likely to get support for basic issues and\nthe comments are a lot more helpful. Take care to read the wiki on the side\nthough as it has a lot of FAQs which cover the basic questions everyone has when starting off. Likewise, it&#8217;s worth\nsearching your question first to make sure it hasn&#8217;t been answered already &#8211;\npeople get sick of these.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/wearethemusicmakers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/wearethemusicmakers<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>We Are The Music Makers is a\nbrilliant subreddit that covers all areas of the music industry, it has a lot\nof production and tech questions as well as useful tips and tricks posted by\nhelpful people. The advice is solid and\nthere is much to learn from this sub. A must\nfor any musician regardless of style.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/DJsCirclejerk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/DJsCirclejerk<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>Is the place for DJ humour and\ntrolling. Expect a lot of sarcastic posts and noob DJs getting made fun of.\nMartin Garrix, David Guetta and other big DJs get a lot of hate here although\nit is mostly for the sake of humour. This\nsubreddit is not essential as it gives no useful info other than chuckles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/livesound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/livesound<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>This is a brilliant subreddit for\nthose into live sound. It provides weekly &#8216;No Stupid Questions&#8217; threads which\nmean users can ask for help on anything and not get shot down. It has a wiki\nfor help as well which is worth checking out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/audioengineering\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/audioengineering<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>Another brilliant subreddit with\nweekly threads that further sub-categorise\nposts, one to check out is Tuesday&#8217;s &#8216;Tips and Tricks&#8217; thread. It supports a lot\nof discussions and is one of my favourite\nsubs because of how much I can learn from it. People frequently give personal\nadvice based on years of experience and are always happy to help people of all\nlevels. Like with all subreddits, the most basic of questions may be shot down,\nonly because there is Google for that,\nand people would rather partake in more interesting discussions than one for\nsomeone completely clueless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/AdvancedProduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">r\/AdvancedProduction<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; is a more intermediate\/pro orientated sub\nwhere you can find topics that may be less approachable for beginners. Nevertheless, I recommend all producers\nsubscribe to it, just make sure to ask questions in the sub for your appropriate level &#8211; the advanced production sub\nwas made to get away from all the beginner questions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/edmproduction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/edmproduction<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>Whether you like dance music or\nnot, I&#8217;d recommend subscribing to this as the posts cover all areas of\nproducing EDM music from the start to the mastering. Aimed mostly at bedroom\nproducers, this is an excellent sub to\nlearn production with a computer. Don&#8217;t be put off by the genre as skills and\nknowledge are transferable, and it often applies to all music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/synthrecipes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/synthrecipes<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;&nbsp;<\/em>Is a newer subreddit that I\ndiscovered recently. It is people posting links to songs and asking how to\nreplicate the particular sounds in it. There are only just over 3000\nsubscribers to this sub at time of writing, so\nnot all questions are answered but it is growing, and the support when it is provided is fantastic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/RateMyAudio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/RateMyAudio<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Want your track critiqued?\nTry this sub. This sub doesn&#8217;t have that much of a following, so make sure your submissions stand out. Don&#8217;t\nsubmit your track if you can&#8217;t handle\nissues pointed out as that&#8217;s the point of the subreddit. Great for direction if\nyou don&#8217;t know what to add\/fix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/futurebeatproducers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/futurebeatproducers<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;\nis like \/r\/edmproduction but for more\nmodern styles of music. Obviously fewer\nfollowers, but better if you want more targeted advice from people who are more\nlikely to relate to your tracks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/GameAudio\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/GameAudio<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; I don&#8217;t care if you aren&#8217;t a\ngame designer, this has some quality content. Great for learning from pro sound\ndesigners, there are some excellent links\nto large sample packs full of FX.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/LocationSound\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/LocationSound<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; slightly more specific\nand perhaps beyond the interest of your standard bedroom producer, this sub is\nfor people who go out to record sounds. If you have an interest in this, it is a valuable resource. If you are\nstudying a media course, this is really\nuseful!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/makinghiphop\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/makinghiphop<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;\npretty much as it sounds. Even if you aren&#8217;t a hip-hop producer, there will be great production advice that you can transfer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/ProductionLounge\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/ProductionLounge<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; a small subreddit but\nworth subscribing to anyway, similar stuff to the above production subs but\nwill get less engagement in the comments and discussion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Samplehunters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/Samplehunters<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Great if you are trying\nto identify a sample, subscribe and contribute if you can, if not you may get\nsome good samples from it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/SongStems\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/SongStems<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211; Fancy a shot at remixing? This is the place to go. You will find song\nstems and be able to request any you\ncan&#8217;t find. The quality may vary, and not everything will be available obviously,\nbut it&#8217;s a good start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/VSTi\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\/r\/VSTi<\/a>&nbsp;&#8211;\nLinks and discussion of Virtual Studio Instruments<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Here is a list of the best music-related subreddits to
