FL Studio has just set the next MUST-HAVE feature for all DAWs

2 min read

ONE of the key things every producer needs is to have a good social presence online – an easy way to do this is upload tracks with music visualisers that are easy to share on platforms such as Facebook and YouTube.

Previously, music visualisation has been hard to do, for many, involving an expensive subscription to Adobe’s After Effects to edit motion graphics.

Now FL Studio has unveiled a music visualiser built into the software to allow producers to create their own.

To access it you just need to update to version 20.7 which should be a free upgrade for all existing users.

With a massive selection of audio templates to pick from and a wide selection of options and customisation, the latest feature in FL Studio not only matches what’s on offer with After Effects, but makes it significantly easier to use.

Users can simply click-and-drag to move text & other layers directly while in video preview.

It also allows for searching online to find additional backgrounds and templates to add into the project and popular free stock video site Pexels is integrated into the feature.

It supports a variety of resolutions (up to 8K!!!) and comes with live performance options for VJs to trigger live clips and media, as well as control DMX devices including lights, lasers, smoke machines, strobes and more.

This is a major move from Image-Line, the developers, and makes the production and marketing process significantly more streamlined.

With this new feature, producers no longer have to pay for separate software to get their music looking good online and I can see the appeal could be enough to convince enough people to switch over.

With the vast assortment of templates, I doubt there will be a “template effect” – something which can become recognisable as everyone uses the same preset – resulting in that template being overused and tacky.

(Think of certain samples you hear way too often in different songs resulting in it sounding lazy)

The update also brings additional midi controller support, note envelopes, and better audio time-warping.

A full list of the features are available on the website here.
